Wow.. a car we just had to buy after just sitting in it and feeling like we were taken back in time taking delivery in 1990. An original UK-supplied 300 SE (W126) in time warp condition throughout, finished in Smoke Silver with a bespoke interior in Ox Blood leather. Powered by the 2,960cc, M103, fuel-injected straight-six offering 190bhp and 127mph. Bodywork and interior upgrades by 'Carat by Duchatelet'. Founded by Frederic Duchatelet, the Liege-based company specialised in (Mercedes-approved) stylish modifications to Mercedes-Benz saloons. Duchatelet interiors were amongst the finest available in the 1980s and exterior modifications were usually more subtle than ones from other companies. Delivered by North riding garages of Pickering to its first owner in November 1990 and registered on the plate WEW 50 for nearly 33 years until June 2022 when due to bereavement it was passed to their offspring who then auctioned the car to a private gentlemen through Mathewsons auctions, Pickering. It therefore shows 2 former keepers on the V5. During its long term ownership it was garaged with very minimal mileage annually hence the incredibly low miles, in December 2013 the car was subject to a small knock on the rear bumper and due to the bespoke kit on car not being able to be replaced it was classed as a Cat C because the cost of commercial repair was more than the value of the vehicle. The owner took an insurance payout, kept the vehicle and had the bumper repaired, VIC checked and passed by Vosa in Feb 2014, then enjoyed it a further 10 years until his death. We would never normally buy a cat registered vehicle but in this instance after thorough examination and putting together the story we could not miss the opportunity and I urge any interested party to do the same!
